FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find answers to some of the questions you may have regarding Rescue Gang here. We’ve addressed some of the most common ones below, but if something isn’t clear feel free to contact us. We’ll be happy to assist you in any way possible.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO VOLUNTEER?

In order to work directly with the dogs, you must be 18 years of age. However, there are some volunteer opportunities for children age 16 and over with parent supervision. Email volunteer@rescuegang.org for more information. Or fill out an application to volunteer here. (18 and over only)

CAN I STILL ADOPT IF I DON'T LIVE IN THE MILWAUKEE AREA?

Yes! However, you must be willing to travel to the Milwaukee area with all members of your household, including pets. We require all families to meet the dogs before adoption. The home check can be done virtually before you travel for the meet so that you can adopt the day of the meet if it's a good fit.

WHAT IS YOUR ADOPTION PROCESS?

Please click here to read more about our adoption process.

WHY DOES THE APPLICATION ASK FOR A HOME CHECK AND BACKGROUND CHECK?

We want to ensure that our dogs are entering a safe environment. A background check tells us if you are financially able to care for a dog and if the dog will be safe in your household. A home check also tells us that the dog will in an environment free from debris and other potential hazards..

CAN I STOP BY THE FACILITY AND LOOK AT DOGS?

We do not adopt dogs from our facility. Sometimes there may be 1 or 2 there waiting for a foster to pick them up, but in order to meet a dog, you must fill out an application. Once approved, you will be put in touch with the dog's foster.

WHERE CAN I DROP OFF DONATIONS?

Our facility isn't always staffed. If you ring the doorbell, and no one answers, please leave donations inside the front door.
